Today, I listened to “Chaponto Ikou! (チャポンと行こう!)” again. I hadn’t listened to it for about two years, ever since I moved into my new home.
I was surprised to see how many episodes had been released—it’s already reached No. 187! Even though so much time has passed, the voices, the pace, and the topics made me feel calm and inspired, just like before.
I listened to episode No. 186. The main topic was about the original furniture released by Kurashi no Dougu Ten. They recently launched their first original furniture pieces: a flower table and a side table.
Sato-san mentioned that they didn’t expect the furniture to sell out within just one week.
Unlike other original items such as clothes, bags, or small daily goods, furniture requires space and needs to match the atmosphere of one’s home. She also explained that they tried to find a good balance between decorative and simple design. They aimed to create furniture where every curve and decorative detail has a meaningful reason to exist.
I remembered how I felt when I read the release article back in June.
For me, it wasn’t surprising that they started making furniture—because they’ve always valued everyday life, and furniture is an essential part of it.
I also wasn’t surprised that the first batch sold out so quickly. As Sato-san mentioned, the flower table is a niche item. But that’s exactly why many of us don’t already own one.
As Yoshibe-san said, if it were a chair or a main table, we probably already have it—because we need those items. A flower table or a side table, on the other hand, is something that decorates our life. It’s not just about function—it’s about choosing something we truly love.
Listening to this episode reminded me that buying items from Hokuou Kurashi no Dougu Ten is not just shopping.
It’s about gathering lovely things that speak to me—and collecting the values I hold dear.
I’m looking forward to listening to other episodes and feeling close to them again.
Thank you for reading my blog.
Have a good night.
